Web tech syllabus
_COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will learn to develop web pages by using HTML, CSS, and Adobe Dreamweaver. In addition, students will learn complementary programs such as Fireworks, Flash and Photoshop. that will enhance their web design skills.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the year, students should understand the various concepts related to web-design. They should be able to plan, create and maintain a web site.
Fall Semester
1. First Nine Weeks (Laying the foundation)
a. Understanding the Web Design Environment
i. The origins of the internet
ii. Careers in web design
iii. Types of websites
b. Software and Hardware and Operating Systems
i. Popular web design tools (CS5)
ii. Other types of web design tools
iii. Apples vs PC operating systems for web design
iv. Identify new web design trends
c. Copyright law
d. Learning HTML
e. Learning CSS
f. Personal Website project
2. Second Nine Weeks (Dreamweaver CS5 or other WYSIWYG Editor)
a. Learning Dreamweaver
i. Interface
ii. Setting up a Website
iii. Text, Color, Formatting
iv. Links, Images
Spring Semester
3. Third Nine Weeks Period (Fireworks and Dreamweaver)
a. Fireworks
